Hi, I’m Jonna! Not Joan-uh. Don’t add an extra “A” because my name isn’t Joanna. It’s not Yohn-uh or Johanna, or the million other variations I’ve heard that are never exactly correct. It’s Jonna, like Donna but with a “J.” But don’t worry about that right now. We’ll come back to it later.
I know what you’re thinking. “Not another blogger.” Don’t worry. I’m a little different. How can I say that confidently? Because I am a little different. I’m the girl that’s covered in dirt from head to toe because I’m doing a landscaping project, then can hit the shower and dress to the nines to go see a play. I’m the gal whose idea of a fantastic night out is finding a restaurant with a cool, funky vibe and then going to an art gallery. I once bought a hat from a local artist made of vintage ties because I love to support creativity and I enjoy having things that are unique.

I’m a photographer slash artist who creates one-of-a-kind pieces by combining my photography with handmade frames fashioned from repurposed wood. I own and ride a Harley Davidson motorcycle that I had custom painted in a Johnny Cash theme.
And, last but not least, I have a journalism background that I’m going to use to introduce you to some very cool people, because I love getting to know people. Everyone has such a great story if you know how to ask the right questions!
Oh, and did I mention I’m 46?

Age plays a big part in all of this because it is such a non-factor for me. I truly believe age is a state of mind. I know a lot of people who are staring 50 in the face and feeling down because they’re “middle aged” or are thinking about how to slow their lives down or starting to think what it will be like when they retire. Not me. I’m just getting started. I am at the best place I have ever been. Literally and emotionally and philosophically. Does that mean I’m perfect? Far from it. But I’m not afraid to show you that either because being real is what makes us so interesting as individuals. And I mean actually being real, not the kind of “reality” you see in TV shows. I am authentic and I’m not afraid to show you the real me.
I moved to Florida five years ago, which was the culmination of a dream I’ve had since I was 21. And. I. Love. It! Living in Florida is paradise for me. Of course, there are downsides, too, just like anything in life and we’ll talk about those in subsequent blog posts, but I truly can’t imagine living anywhere else. One thing I didn’t realize is that there is so much more to Florida than beaches. Don’t worry. We’ll talk about the beaches, too, but I want to take you beyond the sand to some other amazing places.
Fashion is something I love immensely, so it’ll be the focus of some of my posts, but this is not primarily a fashion blog. Similarly, I love travel, but this will not be a blog that is weighed down with posts about traveling. Ditto with food. I love to eat, whether it’s a new recipe I’m trying out or I’m checking out the newest restaurant, but I’m not going to overwhelm you with posts about food.
Are you sensing the theme yet? Think of my blog like a conversation with a good friend. You don’t pick one subject and talk about it until it’s exhausted. You open a bottle of wine and the conversation flows through lots of different areas. This is a lifestyle blog that will be about my life, living in Florida, finding unique restaurants, celebrating creativity through my artwork and the art of others, meeting interesting new people, and looking fabulous as I do all that!
So, what do you think? Do you want to embark on this journey with me? I hope you do. We’re going to have a lot of fun together. Oh, and about the name? Don’t worry about it. Call me JJ. All my friends do.
